Allianz-Tiriac encourages you to take care of your health, while remaining safe and comfortable in your home. At no additional cost, we provide remote medical consulting service through partnership with Medicover to clients who have health insurance placed with Allianz-Tiriac.

Allianz-Tiriac meets your needs with changes regarding the health insurance

During the Military Ordinances

  • The costs of medical consultations accessed by telephone or online, in any clinic within the Allianz-Tiriac partner network or outside it, are covered by reimbursement, subject to the limits of your selected package, if the insurance contract provides coverage outside the partner network..
For medical conditions occurring between April 15th – July 15th, 2020 or earlier up to 2 months at the most before the establishment of the state of emergency:
  • The validity period of recommendations and referrals accepted for the notification of insured events is extended from 90 days to 180 days.
  • Coverage is provided for the costs of medically justified services accessed during the Sanaplan policy period for acute disease and acute flare-ups of chronic and/or pre-existing conditions, within 180 days at the most from on-set, as compared to the maximum 90-day term set out for such events in the insurance conditions
  • Coverage is provided for the costs of medically justified services accessed during the health insurance policy period within 270 days at the most from the date of the accident, as compared to the maximum 180-day term set out for accidents in the insurance conditions
The risk of illness which is directly or indirectly starting in the context of an officially declared epidemic / pandemic (such as COVID-19) is excluded from the SanaPlan and SanaPro health insurance contracts issued by Allianz-Tiriac. COVID-19 was declared a pandemic risk by the World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11, 2020, which means that the health insurance issued by Allianz-Tiriac does not cover medical costs regardless of their type (direct settlement, reimbursement and compensations) generated by contracting the new Coronavirus.

News regarding travel insurance

Allianz-Tiriac addresses your needs with changes of the travel insurance

In case of policies that are issued after leaving Romania for insureds who have to extend their stay abroad in the context of the pandemic and that have continuity of the insurance period, the following are temporarily suspended:

  • the condition regarding the 7-day waiting period as from policy issuance until entry into force
  • the obligation of the insured to prove that he/ she has left Romania in the last 4 weeks at the most before concluding the insurance contract, as per the Voiaj Direct, Multitravel insurance conditions.

The insurance premium is fully refunded in case of cancellation of travel for policies with cancellation clause attached as well as for policies purchased before the pandemic being officially declared.

The travel insurance contracts issued by Allianz -Tiriac cover medical expenses directly or indirectly caused by an infectious disease (including COVID-19) up to the moment when it is declared a pandemic or an epidemic by the competent authorities.

Given that the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a pandemic risk on March 11th, 2020, the travel insurance issued by Allianz-Tiriac does not cover the medical costs generated by contracting COVID-19.

We also specify that the risk of contracting COVID-19 was not covered by the travel insurance policies issued by Allianz-Tiriac prior to March 11th, 2020, if occurring in the countries where COVID-19 was already declared an epidemic risk by the competent authorities.

News regarding life insurance and the Best Doctors rider

Allianz-Tiriac addresses your needs with changes regarding the life insurance and the Best Doctors rider

Re-entry into force of individual life insurance contracts at the client's request is allowed without filling in medical questionnaires or other specific documents, in the following situations:

  • The outstanding period of the overdue premiums for the life insurance contract does not exceed 90 days
  • The amount at risk is less than EUR 50,000
  • The contract does not have the Best Doctors clause attached
  • The insurance contract has no reported claims.

The Allianz-Tiriac portfolio contains both life insurance contracts that do not have provisions for the epidemic/pandemic exclusion and insurance contracts that include provisions for this exclusion. We will continuously monitor the evolution of each case and the decisions will be made on a case by case basis.

Declaring COVID-19 as pandemic risk by the World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11th, 2020 does not, in any way, affect the coverage of the Best Doctors clause regarding serious diseases. The coverages remain in force as provided in the insurance conditions.

The questionnaires signed by the Insured for the Best Doctors serious medical conditions additional clause are accepted in electronic format (scan, photo) and the original documents are to be collected when the activities return to normal and we return to standard sales and contract administration processes.

However, the rapid international spread of the new coronavirus may make it difficult to access medical services in some countries. Such difficulties are caused by external factors, such as cancellation of flights, restrictions imposed by the authorities (e.g. closing borders, hospitals etc.).

In all medical cases where the listed restrictions appear, we will analyse the situation together with our partner Further and we will identify the best solutions for our insureds.
